Leadlight was introduced to the V V F by Charlie Bonchi way back in 2002.
From humble beginnings the early starters received first class tuition from Charlie.
This group has expanded beyond our furthest dreams after having set up a self help work ethic. Some current members commenced in the groups infancy.
We now produce some interesting creations in our air conditioned workroom using several grinding machines and bandsaw to assistance in making our projects that little bit quicker and easier. Also allows us to cut out more intricate patterns.
Leadlight and copper foiling are the principal styles of glass work crafted by the group. During 2011 a kiln was purchased to expand our knowledge and repertoire of glass art.
Glass Fusion is the art of fusing pieces of glass which have been creatively assembled, carefully placed into a kiln to melt into a fantastic product. Pendants, earrings, bowls, rings, noughts & crosses game and Christmas decorations have all been crafted by our group.
There is plenty of room for anyone wishing to learn the basics of leadlight, copper foil or glass fusion. If you are curious enough, come along for an introduction. Tuition is provided with ongoing assistance.
Our group contributes $5 per person for a two hour session which enables us to maintain, repair and update the extensive range of tools and equipment we use. Our endeavour is to be totally self supporting and regularly donate hand crafted items for raffles and auctions to benefit the V V F.
The leadlight group which incorporates the glass fusion meet at the V V F Warradale each Wednesday 1pm - 3pm
